LONG HAIRSTYLES ARE BACK. HERE'S HOW TO ACHIEVE THE LOOK.

Posted by Sergei Garkavyi on

Have you had the same haircut your whole life? Have you tried to switch it up in the last few years and found yourself going back to your tried and true style? Have you seen the prevalence of longer hairstyles for men recently and thought to yourself how you could achieve that look, without the confusion, and feeling unkempt? If so, keep reading.

Most men never bother to take the leap and grow out their hair to develop a hairstyle that actually compliments the shape of their face or their look. And the ones that have usually aren’t sitting around explaining each step they took to achieve their stylish new do. Avenue Man Hair Products is here to demystify the process for you, to give you the wake-up call and the know-how on how to grow out your hair and maintain it to achieve a style that everyone will be envious of.

Growing out your hair obviously isn’t something that happens over night. Some men let their hair grow for months without getting it cut, while others keep their hair at a longer length but take part in frequent maintenance. Others are somewhere in between but employ clever styling tools and techniques to manage their mane. What’s common to all these men is that to start, they were comfortable with the idea of switching things up. As with any new goal or task, there will be trial and error. Your hair products for your short length hair may not work for your longer locks. You may find yourself parting your hair, or you may find that you change your hair washing habits to achieve a different look. What’s important here is that you become comfortable with the idea that initially, achieving a longer hairstyle will take some work, whether that work is taking the time to figure out how to style your new look, or whether it is figuring out when to get it trimmed, or identifying what new products to add to your arsenal. If you can cross this initial mental barrier, you will end up with a style that may compliment your look in ways you never thought possible. And all the guesswork will be in your rear view. But it takes some dedication to start.

The first thing to address is your hair health. Just like a garden or rose bush, your hair needs the proper nutrients and vitamins to reach its full potential. Supplements are filled with vitamins to help your hair grow stronger and quicker. Some supplements we suggest are Vitamin D, Zinc, and Biotin.

Secondly, we’ve simplified the product selection process for you. We encourage you to become acquainted with our diverse line of products and research the differences in each. Every person has a unique type of hair and won’t find success with every type of product. Our team is passionate for all types of hair and we are constantly implementing new products to target every type of hair. For those growing out their hair but suffering from initial thin locks, we recommend our hair mousse for men, Sculpting Foam, that provides longer hair firm control without the stickiness that often plagues other hair products. For thicker hair we recommend our Max Texture Clay. Depending on how rigidly you want to maintain your style throughout your day, we advise looking into our hairspray products to see which one works best for you. For a lighter hold and a more flexible look, we recommend our Firm Hold Hair Spray. For extra hold and to keep your hair intact all day long, try our Extreme Hold Hair Spray.

Eventually, you’ll get to the point where you feel that your hair is getting subjectively, too long. A calculated haircut can be an excellent solution to this. A calculated cut with specific instructions to your hairstylist on the specific length to trim your hair and the look you are trying to achieve will go a long way in maintaining the long style you have developed but ensuring that it does not look messy or unkempt. A trim will allow you to keep the style but without the hassle of hair that is too long per your personal preference, or gets in the way.  The right cut at the right length makes all the difference between looking professional and stylish or looking unkempt and messy.

Lastly, we recommend whichever products you use, or however long you decide to cut your hair, to take the time to clean and wash your hair with shampoo. We recommend shampooing 1-2 times a week at most, followed by a nutrient and vitamin rich conditioner. It would be wrong if we didn’t make a shameless plug for our Fortifying Shampoo and Volumizing Conditioner – check them out!

Most importantly, have fun with it. You’ll likely find your longer hair will elevate your style, and give you that added confidence boost.

The Avenue Man Team.
